This product effectively inhibits diatoms by eliminating silicate. Key Features: • A filtering medium specifically designed to remove silicic acid (silicate) from both freshwater and marine environments to deter diatom growth. • Simply rinse, fill the provided filter bag, and position it in your filter. Remember to rinse it again after one to two weeks of use. • Diatoms can create unsightly brown deposits on substrates, decorative items, and plants. • You can assess the silicate levels using a silicate test. Ideal results: values below 0.4 mg/L silicate help prevent diatom formation.
